The villa was designed with a central great room to give separation and privacy all the main living areas.

You can reserve the Casa or the Casita or the additional space of the studio (The Nest). Any combination works perfect for couples, larger groups, or more than one family vacationing together.

Mayacala, built in 2010, is on a bluff overlooking pristine Laguna Bacalar in a secure gated community. This is a tropical paradise with warm crystal clear water surrounded by lush jungle vegetation with many birds including Toucans and parrots; exotic butterflies and monkeys in their natural habitat. The moment you step from the car you are in another world, the jungle comes alive and serenades you. Each room in the villa has a wonderful view and you can dine, relax or shower in the jungle. Mayacala is comfortable and elegant with tasteful, practical furnishings. The villa has Wi-Fi, Sat. TV and A/C.

In 2013 an airy studio, called the Nest, was added creating a stunning 27 ft. high ceiling over the Great Room. The villa was designed with a central great room to give separation and privacy to the main living areas.

You can reserve the Casa or the Casita or the additional space of the studio (The Nest). This works perfect for couples, larger groups, or more than one family vacationing together. You can reserve the Casa, Casita or the studio El Nido (The Nest).

The Villa works for couples, larger groups, or more than one family vacationing together. MayaCala is divided into two private residences and also a studio that can be added into either rental. They can be rented together or separately each with their own living areas with fully equipped kitchens and bathrooms. Both kitchens have full size fridges and ranges with ovens. Meander through Mayacala's garden paths throughout the property and you will see flower orchids, bougainvilleas, banana trees, mangos, oranges, lemon and other jungle plants. Butterflies flutter around you and you may even see a spider monkey flying through the trees.

Our locations allows you to explore ancient ruins, snorkel and swim in the Caribbean with its beautiful white sand and turquoi8se water. You can take a day trip to Belize or just enjoy the beautiful surroundings of the villa.

The Villa is versatile

The Casa/Casita and the Nest can be rented together or separate or you can book the whole Villa together. It works perfect for larger groups or more than one family vacationing together or a couple looking for a romantic secluded getaway.

Casa, Casita and Nest

Both Casa and Casita have fully equipped kitchens with stainless steel full size fridge with freezer, stove with oven, microwave, toaster, blender, coffeepot, plus all utensils to create fantastic meals.

The Nest does not have a stove. There is a wet bar, full size fridge/freezer, microwave, toaster, blender, coffeepot and utensils-there is a hotplate available upon request.

Extra kitchen items are in the great room for guests to share, crock-pot, roaster, taco press, elec. frying pan, and more.

Casa, Casita and Nest all have sat. TV, Wi-Fi internet, A/C, and ceiling fans are everywhere.

Each unit has its own terrace, terraces and space that provide sun and shade and stunning vistas up and down Laguna Bacalar and across the lake, enjoy sunsets and sunrises while sipping your morning coffee or evening drinks and enjoy the views.



The casita has a jungle theme, with views of the lake and jungle. It is a 2 bedroom suite decorated with colorful Mexican tiles.

The casita is such a cute and private suite in it's own corner of the villa, given a choice the Casita is often it. With a fully equipped kitchen. The master bedroom has sliding privacy doors that separate it from the sitting area, when open this allows a view of the lake and jungle. The second bedroom, has a double bed and sliding glass doors with jungle views opening to the terrace. Three piece bath has a view of the garden. Talavera tiles and sink decorate the shower and kitchen.

Sliding glass doors open to a terrace with table and chairs with palapa shading, while lounging on the terrace you have the feeling your sitting in the middle of the Jungle, this is a birds watchers paradise, with a view looking straight up the lake, so stunning.


The Casita can also be rented as a one bedroom.

The Casa color theme ties in with the beautiful mahogany wood used throughout.

The Casa kitchen and living space are an open concept. Feature's large sliding glass doors overlooking the lake that open onto the terrace. There is a living area you can relax with TV. Fully equipped kitchen and island, stools for eating, 1.5 bathrooms. The master bedroom with a queen bed has large sliding glass doors and bath/shower overlooking the lake. There is a small bedroom with a single bed off the kitchen.

The Casa opens on to the Great Room that is included when renting the Casa.

The Great room features huge curved glass window with screens that over look the Lake and Jungle, slide open the window and you have a lovely breeze, perfect for hanging out and relaxing or social gatherings with a dining table that seats eight, a queen futon if an extra bed is needed.

The Nest: El Nido

This is a very airy studio with roof top terraces on the Casa side.

The Nest has a double bed with a privacy divider separating the sitting/TV area also a queen futon for lounging or extra sleeping. The toilet/shower, offers privacy and convenience. There is a compact kitchen Wet Bar with full size fridge-freezer, and sink, Hot plate available along with the extra kitchen appliance's making for easy meal planning.

The Nest features four sliding glass doors accessing two private terraces and two Juliette balconies that provide stunning views overlooking the Lake, Jungle and Gardens. Also the Nest terrace has spiral stairs that access the roof top, only the guest's that have booked the Nest have access to this amazing space, it is totally private.

Great Room

On the Lake side portion of the Great Room there are huge windows that open with screens to enjoy the breeze and breath taking views. There is a Large Dining Table that seats eight overlooking the lake and a Queen futon that can be reserved for additional sleeping space. Sliding doors open into the Casa kitchen living space. The Casita spare bedroom door opens out to the Great room. This allows for diversified rental space and adds a bedroom to the Casa, and the Casita can rent as a one bedroom.


The Great Room has a Divider.

On the opposite of the divider (Fountain side), there is a bookcase with Library, Games and a large closet, with Lake Toys, Boogie Boards and Life jackets. This is also the entrance to the Casita and the stairs that take you up to The entrance door of the Nest. At the top of the stairs continue around the curved catwalk you then come to a 2nd door that opens onto the Casita Roof Top deck this is a wonderful spot to enjoy evening drinks or your morning coffee with gorgeous views of sunsets and sunrises.

The Lake


Laguna Bacalar is the second largest fresh-water lake in all of Mexico. Over 50km long one side is forested by palms and hardwoods.It is fed by fresh water springs from the cenotes and is so clear and clean that it is a fabulous turquoise colour in the shallower areas with different shades of blue arising where the depth is greater. It is known as the "The lake of Seven Colors".

Maya Cala is located in the middle of a jungle and a lagoon, making for an ideal setting for a variety of endemic plants and many animals, including a large number of birds.

The Villa is privileged because of it's amazing setting, on it's own private cove with the surrounding jungle and our close proximity to the ocean, either to the huge Bay of Chetumal and the beaches of fine white sand and turquoise water in Mahahual, from where you can reach the spectacular Chinchorro Reef, an underwater marvel.
