What is Botox ?
Botulinum toxin, or Botox, is a substance that Clostridium botulinum bacteria is producing. Botulinum injection in selected places causes muscle weakness.
In aesthetic medicine it allows to obtain the effect of smoothing wrinkles. Botox in therapeutic doses is safe for the patient’s health. It is worth mentioning that botulinum toxin is also used e.g. in ophthalmology and neurology. It is a substance with a wide range of applications.

With the use of Botox, you do not have to wait until the first wrinkles appear. Patients often decide to undergo a Botox treatment to prevent the development of mimic wrinkles. The treatment consists of several intramuscular or subcutaneous injections of small amounts of the preparation to relax the muscles responsible for the formation of wrinkles. It lasts about fifteen minutes. The depth of application of the preparation depends on the location of the muscle. For example, the muscles responsible for wrinkling the eyebrows are located deep, so in their case we must apply Botox deeply to be effective.
The first effects of the treatment will appear after two or three days. The final effect will stabilize approximately two weeks after the procedure. For 3-4 hours after the procedure, the patient should avoid intensive physical activity, tilting the head, lying flat, massaging the face. Otherwise the result can be non satisfactory.
The advantage of the procedure using Botox is its low invasiveness, making it almost painless. The effect of the treatment is completely reversible – if the effect obtained is not satisfactory, it will disappear spontaneously after a few months.
